Avenger
Bold, powerful, capable
Dodge Avenger combines bold, aggressive styling with innovative interior features, high levels of safety and reliability, exhilarating performance and excellent fuel efficiency of 30 mpg on the highway. Avenger makes a powerful statement as a reliable, well-engineered sedan with bold, sporty styling, spirited performance, fuel-efficient engine options and innovative features that fit active lifestyles at an affordable price. From the front, there’s no mistaking Dodge’s heritage in Avenger’s aggressive exterior lines. The brand’s signature crosshair grille and large, modern quad headlamps housed in black add to Avenger’s menacing glare. Avenger’s side profile shares more traits with the Dodge Charger. Muscular rear shoulders, large wheels and tires and a sleek rear spoiler embody the Dodge brand attributes of bold, powerful and capable. Avenger SE, which we test drove, features a 2.4-liter four cylinder engine with dual variable-valve timing that produces 173 horsepower and 166 lb.-ft. of torque. Safety features include standard side-curtain air bags. For 2010, Avenger features the company’s new active head restraint system for front-seat occupants. This new system augments the head restraints ability to minimize neck injuries caused by rear-impact accidents. In the event of a rear impact, the head restraints deploy to remove the space between the occupants head and the restraint to help minimize whiplash type injuries. “Chrysler showed the most improvement of any automaker for 2010,” said Insurance Institute for Highway Safety President Adrian Lund. “These Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge models are part of an elite group that afford the best overall crash protection and have electronic stability control, which can help keep drivers out of crashes altogether.”
