Since the earliest days of the company, BMW coupes have been elegant expressions of individual style and passion for driving.
For 2011, outstanding style updates for 328i continue that tradition.
Fundamentally unchanged are essential attributes of rear-wheel drive, near-perfect 50-50 weight distribution, remarkably precise steering and skillfully engineered suspension — all of which conspire to produce the uniquely satisfying driving experience that is quintessentially BMW.
The specially tuned suspension enables the driver to convert the power and performance of the engine into an exhilarating driving experience. Boasting a double-pivot front suspension with spring struts made almost entirely of aluminum in combination with a five-link rear suspension, the BMW 3 Series coupes have the most advanced and sophisticated suspension in their class.
The 328i, which we test-drove, features a 230 horsepower, 200 pound-feet, 3.0-liter, inline-6 engine, with dynamic performance.
The distinctive character of the BMW 3 Series coupes is instantly recognizable from the very first glance. Over and above the basic shape of the car and its classic lines, the design of the headlights, the detail of the taillights, the interior and even the exterior mirrors were specifically created for the coupes. These unique design elements reflect the special character of this elegant and sporty car.
Besides focusing on the driving experience, in true BMW fashion, the interior has special treats as well.
Because the coupes are four-passenger cars, the rear seat passengers are treated to a center console between their individual rear seats, which includes individual storage boxes, additional air outlet vents and footwell lights.
